trip to paris

i just got back from a trip to paris...my opinion?? wow, it's interesting...i mean the history of france seems to be more colourful and rich compared to the neutral switzerland...here's a picture of the first landmark i landed in paris...it's near the metro station Place de la République, i have no idea what statue is that...i guess it has something to be related to the french revolution..and here is some information i searched from the internet...

" All began in the 18th century with the Enlightenment. Thinkers such as Voltaire and Rousseau criticized the principles of the old regime and absolutism. When in 1789 the state finances underwent a crisis, the people of Paris had the perfect excuse to start the Revolution. A few weeks later, the revolutionaries enacted the Declaration of the Rights of Man which embodied the principles of 'Liberté, Egalité, and Fraternité' (Freedom, Equality, Fraternity). For a few years confusion and anarchy ruled in France, "la Terreur" (The terror). In 1794 Robespierre was overthrown and the Terror regime came to an end.
In 1799 General Bonaparte enters Paris to restore calm and unity. Five years later Bonaparte crowns himself Emperor Napoleon I. A decade of Naopleonic wars to expand his Empire followed. The Empire dream ended in 1815, when Napoleon is defeated at Waterloo."

next is the time to check out the accomodation...it's a backpacker kinda hostel...not that bad but the room seems a bit small..and the building somewhat old...but surprisingly, there are a lot of ppl from all parts of the world...and all are young ppl travelling...bet they found the place at the internet as well, so looks like there is nothing to be worried about when sharing room with perfectly stranger, u might even made a friend or two...and another advice...girls travelling alone is perfectly fine coz i seen several examples...and i believe it's much more enjoyable as u will be travelling at your own pace and likeness...here's the front view of Absolute Paris...

Then i actually walked all the way from the hotel to st michel notre dame, well just to save euro1 of metro fare...and hopefully able to see something interesting along the way...but only manage to see a huge exhibition hall which consists of mainly pipe kinda structure..and, i am just not interested to take a picture...but along the way, saw a few things...like oysters and shells...and also hotel la ville (something like that)..and the seine river....looks cool...and then notre dame was just on the small island on the seine river...which is called Ile de la Cité ...stands for island i suppose in french..

Then the church of notre dame was in view...reminds me of the story the hunchback of notre dame...i did not watched this animation film....planning to find it and watch to know the story is like, and i happened to learned that quasimodo is the bell ringer of the church at that time...here's how it looks like...and i also learned that the story was a fiction by victor hugo...

In order to go up to the tower of notre dame, i think have to pay euro7, decided to go there after getting the museum pass on monday...so at the mean time, the next trip is to the ever famous eiffel tower in paris....ok, first impression, hey man, it's just a normal trasmission tower, let me tell u the truth, eiffel tower looked much better from far rather than near...from far, it;s majestic and grande, but from near, just a mere transmission tower with bad colours...haha...and the last picture is the bust of Sir Eiffel...

view from the top...sunset....and a bride and bridegroom on eiffel tower...how romantique is tat..

*to be continued*
