dragon rider
i just finished reading Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. I bought the book 1 year ago before coming to Switzerland in Popular Bookshop Everise Stampin. It's a book about dragon as the name indicates. I has been always interested with books on dragon...they are such mystical creatures...this book would be saying that there exists dragons near scotland, i guess the idea comes from the legend of Loch Ness Monster called Nessie. I would like to go there to the lake one day to have a view, who knows i might see some dragons/monster there...haha So, it seems from Cornelia's imagination, there are still dragons left hiding somewhere near Scotland, and thus the story is about a boy who met a young dragon, who is looking for the Rim of Heaven which is known to be hidden from human and all existing dragons live happily there..thus the boy, the dragon, the brownies, travelled east to the direction of the himalaya in search of the Rim of Heaven, and thoughout the adventure, they have to deal with Nettlebrand, a kind of monster created by an alchemist which is designed to be eating dragons..thus the hidden message in the book is the seriousness of pollution, development has driven certain animals into extinction, though cornelia represent it as dragons, fairies, brownies, dwarfs, etc...and as how all children's book ended, it's a happy ending where good defeated evil...there is no sequel to this book...which i don't think there is much to write since the dragon's are already settled down in Rim of Heaven unless, the toad turned into something worst, eating up all the dragon's and conquering the Rim of Heaven, leaving only Maia and Firedrake as the last two dragons on earth??? and another series of adventure follows?? well, it could be like that,,,anyway, glad to finally finish a book after all these years..reminds me of the days i read enid blython's book...next I would be reading 'the world is flat' and funke's inkheart...=)
